Description
Antique pendant made of gold-plated silver (tested and guaranteed), set with pretty faceted glass stones, also known as "paste" in the English-speaking world. The colourless stones decorate both the centre of the flower-shaped pendant and each individual petal, creating a charming sparkle.
A large eyelet connects the piece of jewellery with a later added chain in Venetian pattern, which is made of gold-plated sterling silver 925 (stamped and guaranteed) and can be closed with a lobster clasp.
The lovely pendant was created in the 19th century when the bourgeoisie increasingly felt the need to adorn themselves with fine jewellery. For reasons of cost, however, it was necessary to fall back on cheaper substitute materials, which were nevertheless able to imitate the precious diamond jewellery of the nobility in a deceptively genuine way. Thus the first "false" jewels made of lead glass were created as early as 1725, which became widely known as rhinestones due to their inventor Georges Frédéric Strass.
Length of the chain (incl. clasp): 45.5 cm.
Dimensions of the pendant (incl. eyelet): 3.6 x 2.6 cm.
Diameter of the glass stones: approx. 2,9 - 7,5 mm.
Weight: add. 10,4 gram.
Condition: Very nice historical condition, pendant with fine wear and oxidation marks, chain later added, freshly cleaned, see photos.
You will receive the necklace lovingly packed in one of our high quality cases and with a certificate of authenticity.
Please note: Vintage or antique jewellery is a worn object, which due to its history
