Description
Wonderful antique brooch made of gilded tombac decorated with a Wedgwood porcelain plaque in the style of classicism made of Blue Jasper Ware (a kind of dyed-through bisque porcelain) by the traditional English manufacturer from London. The fine blue ground of the round porcelain medallion depicts a multi-figure antique scene. The Wedgwoog cameo sits in a simple, finely engraved frame, framed by an elaborately designed floral framing. On the back side the brooch has a simple needling with safety slide.
The brooch was created in England around 1880 and is an enchanting and charming piece of jewellery.
