Description
Historical brooch set with a shell cameo with the effigy of a bacchante (checked and guaranteed).
The oval cameo sits in a narrow gilt bezel setting. The effigy of a bacchante has been cut free from the domed shell. She is one of the ladies of the retinue of the wine god Dionysios and is easily recognizable by her attributes, the vine leaves and the vines in her long open hair.
The brooch can be easily and securely fastened with a C-pinned brooch on the back.
The pretty piece of jewellery was created around 1870 and belongs to the period of historicism, in which antiquity was enthusiastically received and this motif can be wonderfully classified. The brooch can be worn excellently with blouses or classically on the lapel.
Dimensions of the brooch: 4.8 x 3.7 cm.
Dimensions of the shell cameo: 4.6 x 3.5 cm.
Weight: 10,9 grammes.

You will receive the brooch lovingly packed in one of our high quality cases and with a certificate of authenticity.
