Description
Historic seed pearl brooch in yellow gold 585 (stamped and guaranteed) in the shape of a flying swallow.
The brooch is elaborately set with seed pearls and a round faceted blueandnbsp;sapphire as a swallow's head. The swallow -andnbsp;wonderfully sculpted in detail- sits centrally on a crescent moon, with flowering branches to the side of the bird. On the back, the brooch has a well-functioning pin with safety slide.
The swallow, since ancient times the attribute of the goddess of love Aphrodite, is symbolic of freedom, hope and love. Especially in the 19th century, during the Victorian era, it was an extremely popular motif in the goldsmith's art.
This delightfully exquisite piece of jewelry was created around 1900 and is a ravishing companion to many different styles. A true favourite!

Diameter of the seed beads: 1,0 - 2,7 mm.
Diameter of the sapphire: approx. 2.0 mm.
