Based on scientific advances in mineral analysis in the 19th century, chemist Auguste Verneuil was able to develop a process around 1890 that allowed him to produce jewelry-quality rubies and sapphires in the laboratory. At the beginning of the 20th century, people were so enthusiastic about this chemical achievement that these syntheses were also used in very high-quality jewelry.
This charming pendant was created around 1910 and makes a wonderful gift for an antique jewelry lover.
