Very rare Austrian Jett earrings with hinged hoop bristles in yellow gold 585 / 14 Kt (stamped and guaranteed).
The fancy earrings are each set with a round jett bouton. Jett, also called gagat, is a fossil wood and found its admiration in the art of jewellery for centuries until its heyday in the 19th century. Its velvety sheen has a particularly distinguished and elegant effect and led to its versatile use in jewellery design, including mourning jewellery.
These particularly well-preserved earrings come from Austria and were made around 1860.
