Description
Fancy and playful historical jewellery set, consisting of necklace and ring, made of gilded silver 900 (stamped and guaranteed). The imaginative necklace consists of softly rounded ring links, which become larger in the middle and are decorated with a total of nine beautiful boutons of precious coral. The corals are of very beautiful salmon-coloured clay and captivate by their excellently preserved surface shine. They sit alternately on top or bottom of the round links and are each accentuated by a small spiral of gold-plated silver wire. The chain is closed with a large spring ring. The matching ring is also set with a large, finely shining coral bouton and is flanked by a small stew pellet and a square ornamental element, which beautifully picks up on the creative geometric design of the necklace.
The necklace and ring were created around 1930 and are sought-after design objects of singular value. Her classically modern design beautifully demonstrates the influence that the Bauhaus, founded by Walter Gropius in 1919, exerted on the liberal and applied arts. Although the Bauhaus had to be closed in 1933, it still shapes modernist trends today and is often used as a synonym for classical modernism in design and architecture.
