The round enamel brooch depicts a courtly lady wearing a red cap. In her hands she holds a gold lidded goblet. The miniature is in Renaissance style. The painting style as well as the colorful fashion of the sitter speak for the chronological classification of the broochandnbsp;in the Historicism in the late 19th century.

The enamel sits in aandnbsp;gold frame with bead decoration and has a pin back with C-hook clasp.

The lady's portrait depicted reminds us of the fine work of the Berlin jewelry artist Hugo Schaper, whoandnbsp;created such enamel miniature paintings based on Gothic and Renaissance designs and set them in gold.andnbsp;
The present brooch isandnbsp;also from Berlin and was made around 1880.
