Description
Traditional antique corset plug with long silver lacing chain (tested and guaranteed). The heart-shaped shield of the plug is decorated with fine gold-plated filigree in floral tendril ornamentation on a likewise gold-plated base. Beautiful accents are set by blue and green glass stones as well as a shimmering grey decorative pearl. The shield is supposed to give the impression of growing up from the shaft like a flower, which is why two stylised leaves can be found at its lower tip. The shaft itself is fluted and decorated with an openwork volute motif at the top. Above the shield the plug has a long lace-up chain in pea pattern with a coin depicting King Ludwig ii. and the Patrona Bavariae attached to it as well as a smaller pendant with a Kauri shell set in silver. Traditionally, commemorative coins or medals were used as pendants, but fertility symbols such as grapes and silver acorns were also used. The silver lacing chain replaced the lacing of fabric ribbons as early as the end of the 18th century and appeared for the first time as part of the Munich bourgeois costume.
The historical Miederstecker was created around 1850 and is mainly known from the old Bavarian costume. It is a sought-after and rare traditional costume accessory that complements every Dirndl perfectly and authentically.
