Description
Gorgeous English necklace with pink-coloured synthetic Verneuil sapphires and seed pearls, crafted from yellow gold 375 / 9 ct (stamped and guaranteed).
The playful pendant is the main focal point of the necklace: it consists of a delicate segment of a circle decorated with two loops on the sides. A movably suspended garland of beaded flowers and foliage stretches between them. The pendant is also adorned with two floral pendulums set with two intensely pink-coloured Verneuil sapphires totalling approx. 1.5 carats. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Verneuil process made it possible to produce gemstones synthetically in the laboratory and enjoyed great popularity in the jewellery fashion of the time.
The pendant is firmly attached to a delicate anchor chain with a clasp at the back.
This enchanting necklace was created in England around 1910 and is a charming example of the Edwardian Era style, which went down in history as the "Garland Style" due to its preference for delicate floral bow and garland motifs.
Length of the chain: 40.5 cm.
Dimensions of the pendant: 4.3 x 3.0 cm.
Dimensions of the synth. sapphires: approx. 6.8 x 4.5 mm or approx. 4.8 mm in diameter, totalling approx. 1.5 ct.
