Rare historical suffragette earrings with amethyst, peridot and seed pearls, crafted from yellow gold 375 / 9 ct (stamped and guaranteed).
The filigree earrings consist of a peridot-studded, flower-shaped central motif, which is connected to the beautifully curved hook earrings via two delicate bars. A lavender-colored drop-shaped amethyst sits as a charming suspension below the flower. Small white seed pearls add shimmering highlights and complete the contemporary design.
The beautiful apple-green peridots have a total stone weight of approx. 0.9 carats, while the amethysts have a total weight of approx. 2.2 carats.
In addition to their romantic design, the earrings also have a very special symbolism, as the colors of the piece of jewelry are to be understood as a political statement: They were the identifying symbol of the so-called suffragettes, the women's movement of Great Britain and the United States, who fought for women's suffrage at the beginning of the 20th century. The suffragettes' motto "give women vote" is reflected in the initial letters of the colors "green, white and violet".
The enchanting earrings were created around 1910 and originate from England. They combine a piece of contemporary political history with the delicate formal language of Art Nouveau and are therefore a particularly coveted piece of jewelry from the beginning of the 20th century.
