Description
Charming historical suffragette brooch with tourmalines, peridot and seed pearls, made of yellow gold 625 / 15 Kt (stamped and guaranteed).
The floral stylized brooch with movable suspension is set with a total of 27 seed pearls, four round faceted peridots and three round faceted tourmalines.
The peridots have their typical pale green colour and a stone weight of approx. 0.8 carat each, the pink tourmalines approx. 0.6 carat each. The fine shimmering luster of the pearls perfectly rounds off the play of colors.
The colors of the gemstones and pearls are to be understood as a political statement: They were the identifying symbol of the Suffragettes, the women's movement of Great Britain as well as the United States, who fought for women's suffrage in the early 20th century. The motto of the suffragettes was "give women vote", which is represented by the first letters of the colours "green, white and violet". Suffragette jewellery is therefore recognisable by this colour combination.
The pendant was created around 1910 in England and is a wonderful piece of jewellery for antique jewellery lovers!
