Wonderful pendant with gold chain 750 / 18 Kt (tested and guaranteed) worked in Canetille technique. The pendant in drop form is artistically made of openwork gold filigree in flower, tendril and volute motifs, which is built up on plastic levels. Three small ornamental pendants made of filigree wire form the lower end. The pendant sits on a strong eyelet. The necklace in pea pattern has a pretty hook buckle on the back, also made of fine filigree wire, with an additional safety chain.
The pendant was created around 1900 in the Netherlands and can either be combined classically or worn with traditional costumes and dirndls.
The Cannetille technique, in which this piece of jewellery is worked, is a special kind of filigree technique, which is ornamentally executed in twisted precious metal wire. The wire is used to create a decorative framework of tendrils and forms. In this way, it was possible to produce expansive pieces of jewellery using the precious gold sparingly.
