Description
Rare brooch of the early Art Deco by Karl Gehle, made of silver 900 (stamped and guaranteed) and deep blue enamel. The transverse oval brooch consists of two sculpturally elaborated, spiral-shaped elements flanking a stylized tulip motif in its centre. The flower is highlighted with beautiful blue enamel and has a ribbed frame. The piece of jewellery has an additional haptic effect due to the discreet hammerblow appearance of the snails. On the back there is a securely functioning needling with C-hooks as well as a simple decoration of pearl stick decoration.
The exclusive historical brooch was made around 1915 by the blacksmith Karl Gehle, who owned a metal workshop in Hagen in Westphalia and later was a member of the board of the artists' association "Hagenrig". His works can be found today in the Osthaus Museum in Hagen, for example.
With this brooch, Gehle takes up very nicely the stylistic preferences of the early Art Deco, which according to its name is characterized by a focus on decorative form elements and the planar-simplified representation of floral-organic motifs.
Dimensions of the brooch: 6,0 x 3,5 cm.
