Description
Enchanting antique brooch in silver and red gold 585 / 14 Kt (tested and guaranteed) in the shape of a flying swallow, completely set with faceted glass stones, known in England as paste. A ruby-coloured ornamental stone forms the eye of the swallow.The swallow has been the symbol of the goddess of love, Aphrodite, ever since the stock. It was particularly popular in the 19th century during the Victorian era. With its constant arrival in spring, the swallow became a symbol of hope and recurring love. At the same time the swallow has something playful about it, it marks a new beginning and has developed into a sign of young love. At the back the brooch has a simple needling with C-hook. This delightful piece of jewellery was created in Victorian England around 1880 and is an elegant companion to many different styles. Dimensions of the brooch: 4,1 x 2,2 cm.
