Description
Mexican design bracelet from Los Castillo, made of partly blackened sterling silver 925 (stamped and guaranteed and signed with "Made in Mexico" and "Taxco Los Castillo"). The wide bracelet consists of a total of eight large, plastically curved links, which are decorated on the obverse side with two horizontally running decorative bands consisting of wavy lines and small beads. The blackened background accentuates the silver ornamental forms particularly well. The individual links of the bracelet are connected to each other by pins and end at the back in a solid buckle, which is inconspicuously incorporated into the design. A safety chain provides additional support.
This rare vintage bracelet was created around 1940 in Mexico and comes from the Los Castillo workshop, which was founded in the late 1930s by the silversmith Antonio Castillo in Taxco. Los Castillo quickly developed into one of the most productive companies in the region and distinguished itself through innovative designs and working techniques, especially by incorporating motifs from Aztec and pre-Columbian culture in its jewelry designs.
Dimensions of the bracelet: 17,0 x 2,3 cm.
