Description
Beautiful oval lava cameo pendant set in pinchbeck or tombac on a gold-plated sterling silver 925 choker (stamped and guaranteed). The ochre-coloured pendant carries an elaborately designed image of a beautiful woman with opulent hairstyle. Flowers have been put into the harrp splendour, suggesting that it is a portrait of a "Flora", the goddess of the blossom.
The historical pendant comes from Naples and was probably made around 1860 - it is not only a rare collector's item but also a lovely feast for the eyes.
