Rare and historic pair of lava cameo earrings with corded frames in gold plated tombac.

The pretty earrings with cut lava cameos are equipped with a change mechanism. The teardrop shaped suspensions can be easily removed via an eyelet and the round top cameos can be worn without pendants

The rare gem earrings were created around 1870 in the Naples area and are a fine example of the antiquity craze in the second half of the 19th century.

Dimensions of the earrings incl. suspensions: 6,2 x 1,6 cm.

Dimensions of the earrings without suspensions: 2,4 x 1,5 cm.

Dimensions of the oval lava cameos: 13.3 x 10.5 mm.

Dimensions of the drop-shaped lava cameos: approx. 32.3 x 12.0 mm.

Condition: Beautiful historical condition, one cameo with a fine hairline crack, freshly cleaned, see photos.
